CeeDee Lamb sends warning to NFL about what he, George Pickens will offer Cowboys this season

Earlier this year, the Dallas Cowboys retained the rights to wide receiver George Pickens via the franchise tag worth roughly $27.3M.

While there were concerns this past spring that Pickens could cause some headaches for the Cowboys as a way to protest not receiving a multiyear contract, he has since proved that he is all-in on playing for the club during the upcoming season. Recently, fellow Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb sent a warning to the NFL regarding what he and Pickens will accomplish through this coming winter while playing alongside quarterback Dak Prescott. 

CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens plan to be "real vicious together"

"We can be real, real vicious together," Lamb said about Pickens, per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' website. "And I know that, he knows that. Every day we strive to do it. We've had a lot of success together, but I know there's much more out there for us."

As noted by ESPN stats, Pickens led the Cowboys last season (his first with Dallas) with 93 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches that he tallied over 17 games. Across 14 contests, Lamb recorded 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and three scores. Meanwhile, the Cowboys were second in the NFL in total offense (391.9 yards per game) and seventh in scoring (27.7 points per contest).

"That's my boy," Lamb said of Pickens. "I don't think he questions anything about where my loyalty stands with him, and vice versa, I don't either. Just every day coming out here, able to compete, talk about different things, talk about life. I feel like we've gotten closer. I don't think you can get any closer than we are."

CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens "want what's best for each other"

Lamb signed a four-year, $136M deal in August 2024, but his future with the Cowboys beyond the 2026 season is up in the air. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones has admitted that having both Lamb and Pickens on the roster next year could be "a real difficult situation," even if Dallas tries to once again tag Pickens. 

Previously, Lamb and Prescott publicly campaigned for Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones to "please figure out a way" to pay Pickens. Lamb seems to believe that he and Pickens working together will bring out the best in the two playmakers. 

"Overall, I feel like at the end of the day, we want what's best for each other, and that's to be with each other, and to grind," Lamb added about Pickens. "I feel like we both have that alpha mentality, that alpha dog component to us, so just rubbing off on one another and just keeping this thing going. We've got to keep being who we are, and at the end of the day prove it to each other every day."
