Von Miller reveals the real reason he signed with the Cowboys

After months of speculation about his future, Hall of Famer Von Miller finally found a new home.

He returned to his home state to sign with the Dallas Cowboys ahead of what might be his final year in the league.

Miller is coming off playing 17 games with the Washington Commanders, logging nine sacks and six tackles for loss at the ripe age of 37.

However, while he can clearly still play at a high level, he knows that's not why the Cowboys signed him. Instead, he's there to build a winning culture.

Von Miller wants to lead by example in Dallas

“They're not paying me for what I do on the football field. If I go out there and get eight sacks, 10 sacks, I'm way underpaid. They're paying me, and my contract is what it is to be the locker room guy. To be a great teammate,” Miller said on his podcast.

As much as the Cowboys will welcome his production, they've revamped their defense and don't need him to do all of the heavy lifting.

What they do need for him is to become the locker room leader that the team has lacked for a while.

He knows how to win at the highest level, and he's looking forward to helping build that type of winning culture in Arlington.

“They're paying me to be on the team to be the best teammate I could be and help these guys with whatever it may be, kind of bring some of that Super Bowl culture that I've been a part of my whole career. Everywhere I went, I won, except with the Washington Commanders,” he added.

Miller may have taken a slight shot at his former team, which, surprisingly, didn't bring him back after a strong campaign.

But now that he's back in the NFC East, he'll get two chances to get back at them and let them know the type of player and leader they let walk out the door.
