Patriots' Drake Maye makes honest admission about his turnover issues

Even though the Seattle Seahawks entered the season as defending champions and unveiled their Super Bowl banner at home, the table was set for a major upset.

Sam Darnold was ruled out of the game with a hip injury five snaps into the season, and Drew Lock couldn't put up a single point on the scoreboard in the first half.

Then, disaster struck for the New England Patriots. The Seahawks' "Dark Side" defense exposed Drake Maye's woes, just like in Super Bowl LX, and it all went downhill.

Maye threw three head-scratching interceptions and barely got away with another one. Following the game, he shouldered the blame for costing his team the win.

Maye is usually pretty good at taking care of the football, but he cannot figure out this defense.

The same happened to him in the Super Bowl — he made rash decisions, hurried by the Seahawks' stout defensive line, and failed to go through his progressions.

Maye could've also thrown the ball away multiple times. Instead, he took three ugly sacks and put the ball in harm's way when there was no need to.

That final offensive drive pretty much summed it up. The Patriots just needed to burn some clock or put the ball out of the defense's reach, even if that means throwing it to the sidelines. They were right there to tie it.

Maye is just learning the ropes of the position, and he'll grow from these mistakes. But for now, everyone else should just watch Seahawks' film if they want to know how to rattle him.
