Quinnen Williams calls out Cowboys defense after Week 1 blunder

There was a lot of talk surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and their new-look defense.

Defensive coordinator Christian Parker got plenty of reinforcements when he took the reins of the team, adding promising rookies and veterans to fix a historically bad defense. If Week 1 is an omen of what's to come, then the Cowboys may struggle to keep offenses off the field again this season.

That's why, following a disappointing 28-20 divisional loss to the New York Giants, star DT Quinnen Williams called out the whole unit, himself included.

Quinnen Williams is angry at the Cowboys defense

“We got to look in the mirror as a defense. We have the guys on this defensive unit to be accountable and to get better,” Williams said postgame (h/t Nick Harris).

The former New York Jets star, who arrived in Arlington midseason in 2025 as the biggest acquisition, also pointed out the team's woes on third down, where it gave up nine conversions on 11 tries.

“Definitely third down. We had a lot of third downs and didn’t get off the field,” Williams said.

Jaxson Dart diced through the defense, and they just didn't have an answer for Cam Skattebo's physicality. All in all, the Giants put together 394 yards of offense, including a whopping 165 on the ground.

Granted, the Giants should also be much better than they were last season, but this definitely wasn't the lockdown defense insiders, analysts and fans had advertised.

The Cowboys will now head home to face Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders, and they'll have to make some big-time adjustments to win their first game of the season.
