Steelers' Aaron Rodgers criticizes referees after ugly performance in Week 1

The Pittsburgh Steelers' record may show 1-0, but the fans may not feel as confident about their team after Week 1.

They were facing an Atlanta Falcons team that was undermanned on both sides of the field, starting at the quarterback position, so watching them escape with a 20-13 win was somewhat underwhelming.

Aaron Rodgers had a solid day, though not by his standards, and he didn't seem to be in sync with DK Metcalf.

That's why, following the game, the future Hall of Famer gave the referees an earful, calling them out for some blatant missed calls on the Steelers' star wide receiver.

Aaron Rodgers rips referees over missed calls

"We had a lot of chances," Rodgers told the media. "Roman gets interfered with, that's going to be a touchdown. DK gets interfered with, they don’t call it. DK gets interfered with in the end zone, almost makes a heroic catch, they don’t call it. First third down of the game, DK in the slot, beats him, getting held, no call. It was interesting. There were a lot of flags, but some of those where we had a chance weren't flags at times."

Rodgers finished the game with 24 completions on 40 attempts for 221 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.

Again, that's a nice outing for most quarterbacks, but Rodgers will always be held to a higher standard, even in his final season in the league.

Metcalf had a modest day with four catches for 40 yards in a team-leading 10 targets.

So, while the production should be there going forward, regardless of the referees, things will definitely be more difficult when he lines up against Christian Gonzalez and the New England Patriots' secondary in Week 2.
