NFL power rankings: ESPN crowns a new top team in Week 2

The first week of NFL action has officially wrapped up, and now it's time to get down to the power rankings for these 32 teams. ESPN has released its official tally following the Week 1 matchups, and in the process, it has crowned a new No. 1 franchise.

The first week of the NFL season was packed with movement. One of the biggest games was the Buffalo Bills finally beating the Houston Texans on the road, 36-31. This was a significant moment for the Bills because it marked their first win in Houston since 2006, following multiple losses down in Texas.

The Buffalo win was also significant because it marked new head coach Joe Brady's first time coaching this team in the regular season. He obviously did well.

ESPN crowns the Buffalo Bills the NFL's new No. 1 team

Thanks to the Bills' great showing, ESPN has ranked the team at No. 1 in the power rankings going into Week 2. The Bills moved up from the No. 3 spot in the preseason rankings. Aaron Schatz especially liked wideout DJ Moore's big debut with the team.

"Moore's five catches for 100 yards were somewhat aided when Houston safety Reed Blankenship went for an interception and missed badly, giving Moore an easy path to a 43-yard touchdown," he notes in the piece. "However, Moore also did a lot of things that didn't end up in his standard receiving totals. He drew a 46-yard pass interference penalty and later an illegal contact flag. He also slapped away what appeared to be a very likely interception for Houston safety Calen Bullock."

Schatz adds, "It was everything the Bills could have asked for when they traded for Moore in March."

The Moore trade is paying off, and now quarterback Josh Allen has a very reliable target.
