After a Week 1 performance in which they allowed 59 points, it would've made sense for the Carolina Panthers to shake up their roster with some moves on the defensive side of the ball.
Instead, it was the wide receiver position that saw change with a bit of an unexpected roster move surrounding 2025 sixth-round pick Jimmy Horn Jr.
According to an announcement from the Panthers official X account, the team has waived Horn in order to make room on the roster for the addition of linebacker Tyrel Dodson from the practice squad.
As mentioned above, Carolina took Horn in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and had been a versatile member of the offense.

While he hasn't been remembered for any positive game-changing plays early in his career, there are two negative plays that Panthers fans associate Horn with.
The first came in the 2025 wild-card round against the Los Angeles Rams. Carolina trailed by three points and on a fourth-down attempt late in the game, Horn dropped a pass that would've extended the drive in the comeback attempt.

The second play happened in Week 1 this season against the Chicago Bears when Horn muffed a punt in the second quarter with the game tied 21-21.

There is one extremely intriguing path for Horn: with his college quarterback Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland.
In what feels like a season where Sanders will be starting at some point in the near future, Horn reuniting with a quarterback that helped him get over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns across two seasons could be the fresh start he needs.
