Quinnen Williams calls himself out, warns Cowboys about Commanders offense

After what was expected to be a much-improved Dallas Cowboys defense largely failed to impress in the club's 28-20 Week 1 "Sunday Night Football" loss at the rival New York Giants on Sept. 13, Dallas defensive tackle Kenny Clark and pass-rusher Rashan Gary acknowledged that they and the rest of their unit will all need to be "better" moving forward. 

On Wednesday, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams pointed the finger at himself while discussing why Dallas is 0-1 ahead of this coming Sunday's home game versus the 0-1 Washington Commanders.

Quinnen Williams knows Cowboys need "more" from him

"I think I did decent, man, but the player that I am, man, I can do more," Williams said about his performance versus the Giants, per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' website. "The group that we have, we can do more. The player I am, I can do more. I could be more disruptive in the backfield; I can be more disruptive when it comes down to gap and a half and making plays and different things like that. I just watch the film, learn and grow from it."

Earlier in the summer, the Cowboys signed Williams to a three-year, $105.9M contract extension. He then recorded just one solo tackle with a forced fumble against the Giants, while second-year New York quarterback Jaxson Dart produced arguably the best performance of his young career. 

Quinnen Williams: Jayden Daniels is "extremely dangerous"

Along with passing for 230 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys, Dart also rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries. Williams understands that Commanders QB1 Jayden Daniels is, in Yarrish's words, also "dynamic with his legs." Along with Daniels, the Cowboys will need to focus on stopping wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs. 

"He's extremely dangerous," Williams said about Daniels. "They've got two receivers over there that're really good, and they've got a run game that's good also. I just think, especially learning from what we did last week and growing and executing and communicating is a big thing for this week also." 

The Commanders nearly earned a win at the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, but Philadelphia ultimately held on for a 24-22 victory. As of Thursday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Cowboys as 4.5-point home favorites over Washington. 

"Having that in Week 1 where we, let's say, we didn't execute the zone read correctly on Sunday, it's a big learning [moment] for this week, because the next two weeks are going to be zone read also," Williams said about how the Cowboys can improve after facing Dart. "So like I said, a lot of stuff that we did during Week 1, we can fix. We can grow from it, we can learn from it, and just keep going throughout the season and just keep getting better."
