Mississippi State AD makes strong statement on program's attempt to keep Kamario Taylor

In today's era of college football, the transfer portal and NIL have become the focal points of offseason decision making for players.

For schools that aren't swimming in NIL funds, retaining key players can sometimes become nearly impossible to do. For the Mississippi State Bulldogs and their fans, that is a concern with attempting to keep their star quarterback Kamario Taylor.

While it's certainly a reasonable concern, Mississippi State AD Zac Selmon spoke strongly about what the program would do to keep Taylor in Starkville next season.

Selmon spoke to Andy Staples of On3, and he made a major commitment for the Bulldogs to keep Taylor as their starting quarterback next season.

"We’re going to be as competitive as we need to be," Selmon said of NIL bidding wars for Taylor.

Those are extremely strong words for a school that doesn't have the NIL funding that some of the bigger programs who love getting portal quarterbacks do.
