LeBron James pays tribute to legendary Lakers PA announcer Lawrence Tanter

Longtime Los Angeles Lakers PA announcer Lawrence Tanter passed away on Wednesday at the age of 76 years old.

Tanter spent 43 seasons as the Lakers’ PA announcer, and tributes have come pouring in left and right. Now, LeBron Jame made sure to pay his respects to Tanter.

“REST IN PARADISE Lawrence Tanter! Loved seeing you pretty much every single home game for the past 8 years at the scores table and always acknowledging you with a cause you deserved the while you were living! Your voice command and echoed throughout,” James wrote on X.

James also replied with two other posts, including a photo of himself and Tanter.

Tanter had been battling an illness, and he went into hospice care in August.

After the news came on Wednesday, the Lakers also released a statement, saying his voice “served as a soundtrack” in the arena for 43 years.

NBA analyst Marc Spears even called Tanter the “best PA announcer in the NBA,” so he was beloved in the sport and a legend in many regards.

Jason Barquero handled the PA announcing for the Lakers once Tanter stepped away last season, but the team has yet to announce a full-time person for the job.
