Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss gets major boost heading into Florida game

One way to raise your draft stock and power ranking as a quarterback is to win games, and that's exactly what Trinidad Chambliss of Ole Miss is doing. Following the team's high-profile win over the LSU Tigers in Week 3, all eyes are really on Chambliss to see just how far this talented young player can go.

Now, Chambliss is getting a ton of respect going into the team's Week 4 matchup against the Florida Gators. Not that he needs it for his confidence, because he has a lot to be proud of, but it's still nice to see him getting recognized in the college football world.

Trinidad Chambliss is the No. 1 quarterback in CBS Sports' power rankings

CBS Sports has named Chambliss the No. 1 best quarterback in their power rankings going into Week 4. The list, put out by David Cobb, has him going from No. 2 to No. 1 this week.

In the piece, Cobb points out that Chambliss had a stellar game against LSU, running "14 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 6:14 remaining in Ole Miss' 32-24 Week 3 win."

"The score capped another legendary performance for the most clutch player in college football," he adds. "In two tight wins against ranked opponents, Chambliss has totaled four touchdowns in each. It's a continuation of what he did during a breakout 2025 season."

Chambliss' jump over Darian Mensah of the Miami Hurricanes to take the No. 1 spot really has more to do with Chambliss' statement win over Ole Miss than Mensah doing badly.

Mensah helped Miami cruise past Wake Forest 33-20 and was nearly flawless early, setting an ACC record by completing his first 24 passes. But, the Hurricanes offense cooled off in the second half, giving Chambliss an opening to move into the top spot. It's not a knock on Mensah’s ridiculous efficiency numbers as much as it is about Chambliss taking center stage.

Chambliss and Mensah took very different paths to big Week 3 performances. Chambliss put up 363 passing yards and two touchdowns on 33-of-48 passing against LSU, adding another touchdown on the ground as Ole Miss pulled off a win. Mensah was efficient against Wake Forest, completing 30 of 34 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns in Miami's win. He opened the game on fire, but the Hurricanes offense slowed down after halftime.

This season, Chambliss has clocked 924 passing yards, a 70% completion rate, seven passing touchdowns and two interceptions in three games. If he keeps up these numbers, he's going to certainly be one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the draft.
