Clock may be running out on Deion Sanders at Colorado

There is no denying that the Colorado Buffaloes captivated the college football world ahead of the 2023 season when they hired Deion Sanders.

"Coach Prime" generated an enormous amount of media attention after his arrival, and with his son Shedeur at quarterback, Sanders had a successful first two seasons.

Fast forward to present day, though, and a horrendous 2025 season (3-9) followed by turmoil and poor on-field results so far in 2026 could be a signal that Sanders' time at Colorado needs to come to an end.

Colorado is having on-field issues each week

The Buffaloes dropped their Week 4 game Saturday, 23-13, against Baylor. Prior to that, Colorado was in the news after Sanders announced that a couple of players were no longer with the program after a postgame incident in Week 3.

Saturday's game was a chance to turn the page and move past the incident, but more on-field issues popped up. That included quarterback Julian Lewis being benched in the loss. Cameras also captured Lewis' coach appearing to tell him to "stop being scared" just ahead of his benching.
