After Bristol win, Joey Logano heads to 'hit or miss' Kansas Speedway looking for NASCAR points lead

Kansas Speedway is far from Joey Logano's best racetrack, but every time he wins there, it's a huge story. 

All three of Logano's wins at the 1.5-mile venue have come in NASCAR's postseason. In 2014, he won to advance to the penultimate round of the playoffs in a year that saw him make the inaugural Championship 4. The next year, he had an infamous run-in with Matt Kenseth, spinning Kenseth in the closing laps to take the win. Later that season at Martinsville, Kenseth got his revenge and kept Logano from winning the championship. 

In 2020, Logano, aided by a rules package that made passing at 1.5-mile tracks very difficult, held off Kevin Harvick to win and advance to the Championship 4. Harvick, who won nine races that season, did not advance. 

Joey Logano: Kansas "hit or miss" for No. 22 team

Logano enters the upcoming race weekend third in the NASCAR Cup Series standings and only 16 points back of leader Kyle Larson after his win in the Bristol night race. As he searches for a fourth championship, he's hoping Sunday's race at Kansas is more similar to those four events. 

"It's hit or miss for us there, so hopefully it's hit," Logano said Tuesday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "We've been hitting on a lot of things. Definitely is a great racetrack for the Next Gen car. Wide, you can go top, bottom, anywhere you want to go. 

"Great for the racing, great for the fans. It's fast. Tough place."
