Joey Logano on pole for Hollywood Casino 400 after NASCAR Cup practice, qualifying at Kansas canceled

Mother Nature got one up on NASCAR for the second straight day. 

Cup Series practice and qualifying, which was scheduled for 9 a.m. local time at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, was canceled due to a brief rain shower. Friday's practice and qualifying sessions for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series were also canceled, and the scheduled 1 p.m. ET start for Saturday's Truck Series race could also be affected by weather.

The first lap of Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 will be the first lap drivers will have turned on the 1.5-mile track all weekend. 

With qualifying canceled, the starting lineup for Sunday's race was set by the NASCAR rulebook. Bristol night race winner Joey Logano will start from the pole, with series points leader Kyle Larson joining him on the front row. The starting lineup for three of the first four races of the Cup Series Chase have now been set by the rulebook. 

How starting lineup shook out

Christopher Bell, Carson Hocevar and Ty Gibbs round out the top five starters, with Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Ryan Preece and Josh Berry completing the top 10. 

Berry will be the highest-starting non-Chase driver. 

Other notable starters include Austin Cindric in 11th, Chris Buescher in 12th, Daniel Suarez in 14th, Tyler Reddick in 15th, Chase Elliott in 18th, Chase Briscoe in 23rd and Ryan Blaney in 25th. Ty Dillon will start last (36th) in Sunday's race.

Larson leads Hamlin by only a single point with seven races left in the season. Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 will go green shortly after 3 p.m. ET, with coverage on USA Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
