Bears reveal Caleb Williams' official status for 'Monday Night Football'

Chicago Bears fans feared the worst last Sunday when Caleb Williams was screaming in pain on the field. He was carted off, and it seemed like his season could be over. Instead, he ended up only having a hamstring strain.

That meant it was possible he was going to suit up this Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bears released an official injury report Saturday, revealing his official status for the week.

Bears playing it safe with Caleb Williams

The Bears revealed Williams will officially be out for Monday night's game.

This seems to make sense as Williams is the franchise quarterback. There is no reason for him to rush back out onto the field and potentially aggravate this injury.

The question now is who will start in his place. Backup Tyson Bagent was in the concussion protocol all week, getting cleared to practice Saturday. That leaves him listed as questionable to play, as he must fully clear the protocol.

Case Keenum is in line to start if Bagent can't go. The veteran last made a start in 2023 as a member of the Houston Texans.

The Bears opened the season with a shootout 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers, and it seemed like the offense could shatter records in 2026. Then came the 9-3 loss last week to the Minnesota Vikings, in which Williams left with an injury.

The team is now hoping to avoid falling into a 1-2 hole early in the season, but the good news is that a disaster was averted with Williams. Fans will take that.
