Panthers defense suffers massive blow with Jaycee Horn injury news

Carolina Panthers star cornerback Jaycee Horn cannot catch a break when it comes to injuries.

Horn, a former first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has been bitten by the injury bug several times in his career, and that trend has continued into the 2026 season.

Jaycee Horn is out indefinitely

According to ESPN/NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Horn suffered a torn quad in Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns. Rapoport revealed that Horn is expected to get a second opinion on the injury, but he is certainly headed to injured reserve.

Not only will Horn be out for the foreseeable future, but there is also a possibility that the injury keeps him out for the remainder of the season. If that happens, it will be the third time in his six seasons that Horn has failed to appear in double-digit games.

Carolina has been decimated by injuries since the season opener

Horn isn't the only important Panthers player to deal with an injury, as there are several others who have already been forced to miss time.

Carolina was without two important defensive players, Devin Lloyd and Nick Scott, against Cleveland. Also in that game were injuries to Mike Jackson, Jalen Coker, Bryce Young and others. The Panthers also lost star linebacker Nic Scourton before the season due to a torn ACL in training camp.

Overcoming the injuries will be tough with the Panthers' schedule

Starting in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions, Carolina will play one of the tougher remaining schedules in the NFL. Besides that, though, there is an argument to be made for the Panthers to lose every game remaining on their schedule. At this point, overcoming all the current injuries and repeating as NFC South champions appears like it will be quite the uphill battle.
