No. 8 Florida earning high praise amid undefeated start under HC Jon Sumrall

While the odds were in Florida's favor to win this game, especially considering the high-stakes game Ole Miss had just won against former HC Lane Kiffin and LSU the week prior, it was still going to take a complete effort for Florida to win this game with Chambliss on the other side of the field.

Not only did the Gators pick up the signature win, but they did so emphatically as they continue to find their identity with running backs Jadan Baugh and Duke Clark.

Florida's run game has been key to success

In total, Florida rushed for 302 yards and six touchdowns, with Baugh coming away with 142 yards and three TDs and Clark putting up 126 yards and one score. Baugh has now rushed for at least 136 yards in all four games, while Clark set a new personal best with his 126 on the ground.

In fact, Baugh has averaged an impressive 7.2 yards per carry and currently has the second-most rush yards (600) in the country. While a lot of the early Heisman conversation has revolved around Chambliss, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and Miami QB Darian Mensah, Baugh has emerged as a sneaky candidate through four games. 

While a tougher schedule awaits as the season progresses, Florida certainly looks the part of a playoff contender. If not, its future looks bright, given Sumrall's previous success as a HC.

"They are a legitimate College Football Playoff team," Finebaum continued. "That should not be lost in the translation, and the coach Jon Sumrall is just somebody to keep your eye on. He took Tulane to the playoffs. He did a phenomenal job in a short period at Troy and I think he will bring a championship, at some point, in the near future back to Gainesville."

Heading into Week 5, Florida still has four ranked opponents remaining on its schedule, beginning with Saturday's trip to face No. 25 Missouri. The most crucial part of its schedule, though, comes when it faces No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia in Weeks 7 and 9 with an off week in between.

A lot can still happen, but Sumrall's tenure at Florida is sure off to a hot start.
