Davante Adams shares strong message about Rams' 1-2 start to season

The Los Angeles Rams went into Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season as the overwhelming betting favorites to win Super Bowl LXI this coming February.

Thus, it's not all that surprising that some hot takes about the Rams surfaced after the club fell to 1-2 on the campaign via a 30-26 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. Following that defeat, wide receiver Davante Adams suggested that he and his Rams teammates aren't losing sleep over the fact that Los Angeles and the 1-2 Arizona Cardinals are currently tied for last place in the NFC West standings. 

Davante Adams: Rams are "playing good ball" despite record

"It’s nothing to freak out about," Adams said about the current state of the Rams, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "There’s a lot of football left, and it’s not like we’re not playing good ball, obviously excluding that first game." 

Adams was referencing how the Rams approached their Week 1 game against the rival San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, "with the excitement of a teenager asked to take out the trash." Weeks after the Rams' 27-7 loss to the Niners, Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay playfully ripped himself for his travel plans that involved his club arriving roughly 28 hours before kickoff of the Australia game. 

On Sept. 21, the Rams earned a 28-6 home win over the New York Giants after Giants starting quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury on the opening drive of that game and didn't return. Against the Broncos, the Rams had what could have been a game-clinching interception wiped away due to a controversial pass interference penalty with under 1:20 remaining in regulation. 

Rams know there are "no moral victories" in the NFL

"Unfortunately, I mean, I don’t know if it’s unfortunate, but based on our situation, unfortunately, this league is about wins and losses, so there’s a lot that we can take from a game like this and feel good about," Adams continued. "But there’s no moral victories, so we’re definitely disappointed to not finish it out. But just to get back to what we do, and that’s going back to practice, get back to the drawing board and just find a way to finish off something again."

As of Monday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook still had the Rams as the overall betting favorites at +650 odds to win Super Bowl LXI. Los Angeles will next play at the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 4. The 2-0 Eagles will take on the 1-1 Chicago Bears in Chicago on Monday night.
