Aaron Judge is making his case to play in the Yankees’ Wild Card opener

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox begin their Wild Card series on Tuesday in the Bronx, and Aaron Judge is doing everything he can to play in that game.

Judge landed on the IL again in September after a short stint back from his initial injury, and Aaron Boone indicated that the Yankees were planning to be without their star.

Judge then said his plan was to be ready for Game 1, and the reigning American League MVP doubled down on Monday with a strong message.

“I’ve been doing a lot of convincing out there, so I’m gonna keep doing that,” Judge said, via Greg Joyce of The New York Post Sports. “I think they all know I want to be out there, especially that first game.”

Judge returned from a lengthy injury absence in September, but he left the game early on September 16 and was placed right back on the IL.

Boone said on Monday that Judge is “making progress,” although he didn’t announce whether the superstar slugger will be on the roster.
