Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles seem to be on the long path toward a sad ending.
Not even a 34-7 win over Central Arkansas at Doak Campbell Stadium can change that.
Who are we kidding? Had Norvell lost that game in Tallahassee, he would have had to receive a Secret Service escort to leave the stadium in one piece. It's not like a win did much for him, though. The Seminoles are still 2-2, 11th in the ACC and staring down a stretch against Virginia, Louisville and No. 4 Miami that could realistically tank their record to 2-5.
Would Norvell's job survive that scenario? Despite the huge buyout, it would be unlikely.
Perhaps that's why the Seminoles lost the commitment of three-star tight end Connor Winn on Tuesday afternoon.
“First off I just want to thank Coach Norvell, Coach Thomsen, and the FSU staff for the hospitality over the last year. With that being said I’m going to open up my recruitment,” Win wrote.

This is a notable decommitment for FSU because he had been the most loyal 2027 recruit to Norvell and the Seminoles to date. He was their longest-tenured commitment, having originally made his commitment in July 2025, shortly after receiving his offer.
From Jacksonville, Florida, Winn is right in FSU's backyard, and he's taken multiple unofficial visits to see the Seminoles.
The fact that they've lost him is an indication of the direction things are headed for Norvell and Florida State.
According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 92 tight end in the 2027 class. Notably, FSU still does have 15 other 2027 commitments at this point, but it's a class that's worth watching if and when things go south in Tallahassee.
