NFL executives reveal alleged trade value of Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

It was reported ahead of Week 3 of the ongoing NFL season that unnamed executives around the league were "wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading 2024 No. 4 pick Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline." 

For a piece published on Monday, well-known league insider Charles Robinson of NFL Blue Book shared an update that may help explain why the Cardinals could hold onto the young wide receiver for the foreseeable future. 

What Cardinals allegedly could get for Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade

Robinson spoke with "three general managers and four high-ranking personnel executives" about how teams around the league supposedly value Harrison this fall. Three front offices told Robinson that Harrison is "worth a second-round pick that is projected to be late." While the others said that Harrison's value is "a third-round pick plus another asset," one general manager said a team could offer Arizona a player who "no longer fits the staff or scheme" for Harrison. 

Over his first three games of playing under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur, Harrison tallied four receptions on nine targets for 73 yards and zero touchdowns. As lackluster as those numbers are, the truth of the matter is that the 1-2 Cardinals have no real reason to trade Harrison for pennies on the dollar before their Week 4 game at the 2-1 New York Giants on Oct. 4. 

The Giants are starting backup quarterback Jameis Winston for at least this coming Sunday's contest after starter Jaxson Dart suffered a serious knee injury in Week 2. 

Which teams could eventually call the Cardinals about Marvin Harrison Jr.?

Robinson mentioned that the New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Indianapolis Colts, the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills are among the teams that have a "straight-up need" at the position and/or that could "get desperate at the wide receiver spot" between now and the afternoon of Nov. 10. 

As for the Cardinals, they almost certainly will hold onto Harrison through their upcoming matchup at the Giants. As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had Arizona as a 1.5-point road favorite over New York.
