A recent report revealed that multiple NFL general managers and high-ranking personnel executives said that the Arizona Cardinals would basically have to accept pennies on the dollar if they wanted to get anything of note for struggling wide receiver and 2024 No. 4 overall draft pick Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler shared an update on Harrison's supposed trade value.
"Teams are continuing to watch the Marvin Harrison Jr. situation closely, wondering if he would become available," Fowler wrote. "He would have a market, though not for a high pick (possibly a quality Day 3 pick, as one team forecasted). Harrison, the former No. 4 overall pick who has struggled in Arizona, showed a slight uptick last week vs. San Francisco with three catches for [40] yards on five targets. But tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson are clearly the Cardinals' primary options."
Previously, three front offices told Charles Robinson of NFL Blue Book that Harrison is "worth a second-round pick that is projected to be late." Meanwhile, other individuals Robinson spoke with said that Harrison's value is "a third-round pick plus another asset."
Multiple physical setbacks limited Harrison to just 12 games last season, and he seemingly has become somewhat of an afterthought while playing under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur this fall. Before Harrison tallied three receptions for 40 yards in Week 3, he had just a single catch on four targets over Arizona's first two games of the campaign.
Much has been said since last fall about how Harrison hasn't yet lived up to the expectations many had for him when he was drafted.
"Harrison is a player to monitor closer to the deadline," Fowler continued. "Teams are still trying to assess what has happened with someone who seemed like a slam dunk out of Ohio State. 'I don't think one scout expected this. I didn't see all the drops and lack of competing [in college],' one team evaluator pointed out. 'Very weird. Probably needs a fresh start. Looks too big for him right now.'"
It remains to be seen whether a team in need of a receiver will spend whatever it would cost to give Harrison a fresh start before the evening of Nov. 10 arrives.
