Ben Simmons is back in the NBA — along with his broken jump shot.
After missing the entire 2025-26 season, the former No. 1 overall pick has returned to the league on a 1-year, $3.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.
Sacramento has begun training camp, and Simmons is using the workouts to shake off the rust. But a clip recently shared by Brenden Nunes of Sactown Spors 1140 showed the former NBA Rookie of the Year Award winner bricking shots from behind the arc, with his jumper still looking like it needs plenty of work. You can watch that video here.
Even his Kings teammate, guard Daeqwon Plowden, had fans wincing over the sight of his shooting form.

Surely, Simmons’ and Plowden’s jumpers are not carbon copies of either Ray Allen’s or Allan Houston’s.
As long as the shots are falling, there wouldn’t be much of a problem with the aesthetics of the Kings guards’ shooting forms. It’s when their shots keep clanking off the rim that they start to become a source of comedy and a target of ridicule.
Simmons has never been known for his jumpers, and the Kings didn’t sign him to stretch the floor for them. He is a career 55.8% shooter from the field but has also gone 5/36 (13.9%) on shots taken from deep in the NBA overall. In other words, he’s always been averse to taking 3-point shots and is extremely bad at it whenever he does.
