Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever saw their 2026 WNBA season come to an end after falling to A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces 94-83 in Game 3 of the first round, losing the series 2-1.
Now, Clark will be heading into the fourth and final year of her four-year rookie contract in 2027, but she has still yet to win a playoff series.
Still, Clark had the best playoff series of her young WNBA career against the Aces. Through three games, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star averaged 20.0 points on 39.6% shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game.
But during the Fever’s playoff run, Nike officially released Clark’s first signature shoe, the Nike Caitlin 1, on Thursday.
The initial shoe launch on Oct. 1 included just two colorways, “Caitlin Blue” and yellow “Warning Code,” with four more planned to release later this year. And the shoe retails for $140 in adult sizes. But despite the Nike Caitlin 1 coming out this week, the shoe has already sold out. In fact, it sold out within minutes, according to one of the shoe’s designers.
“Shoe sold out in minutes but it took over 2 years to get here,” designer Ben Slamin wrote on Instagram. “Huge shout out to the incredible team that pushed this project across the finish line. While the ad says Nothing Special To See Here*, there was something truly special behind the scene. So much passion, time, hustle, and care went into every detail. Every CC every 22 was thoughtfully crafted down to the final edges. I’m grateful to have played a small part in making it happen…”
Clark took notice of her shoe selling out as fast as it did, sharing Slamin’s post on her Instagram story with the comment: “when I saw the final product for the first time.” This was a nod the the first photo of Slamin’s post, with Clark giving him a fist bump.
The Fever will head into the offseason with a few roster decisions to make, including on Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham, whose contracts have expired.
