The Ohio State Buckeyes have a long history of recruiting, developing and sending outstanding wide receivers to the NFL.
There's a reason that Ohio State is often referred to as "Wide Receiver University," and that is likely to remain the case for quite some time. Of all the outstanding receivers the school has produced, none have been better than Jeremiah Smith.
That was likely already clear to most prior to Saturday, but if it wasn't, he certainly should be now after Smith made more Ohio State history.
Smith had a stellar performance in Saturday's 31-14 win over No. 14 Iowa. He collected 11 catches for 206 yards with two touchdowns. In the process of his stellar day, Smith became the all-time leader in a couple more categories.
Smith's 11 catches gave him 207 in his career and moved him ahead of Emeka Egbuka for the all-time lead in program history. Additionally, the two touchdowns for Smith gave him 36 in his career and moved him ahead of Chris Olave for the most in school history.
It was a record-setting day for Smith just two weeks after he set the school record for all-time receiving yards.

It would seem that entering Week 5, the two favorites for the Heisman are Smith and Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell. Russell went on the road to Starkville and completed 16-of-22 passes for 285 yards with two touchdowns as well as 16 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a 56-23 rout of No. 16 Mississippi State.
Both Smith and Russell had outstanding performances on Saturday and may have created a bit of separation from other contenders.
It's way too early in the season to determine a winner, but those do seem to be the early favorites, and without any injuries, it'll likely remain that way for quite some time.
