Cam Skattebo is one of the more unique players in the NFL. The New York Giants running back seems like a player out of a past era, who is solely focused on football and gaining every yard possible.
He has had a relatively slow start to the season, with 177 yards on 50 rushes in three games. That included 60 yards on 20 rushes in last week's 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans in the first full game without Jaxson Dart at quarterback.
Skattebo did not have a big day in terms of yards, but did dish out some punishing hits to Titans defenders. One of the hits was apparently too punishing as the running back has been hit with a fine.
Giants reporter Jordan Raanan revealed the fine Saturday morning.
Giants RB Cam Skattebo was fined this week for "illegal helmet contact on a running play" against the Titans.

The official reasoning from the NFL is "illegal helmet contact on a running play." That left fans searching for this finable offense, with the understanding Skattebo runs hard on every play.
One video appears to show him lowering his helmet into a Titans defender.

To some, this may simply look like a hard-nosed run and one that is encouraged at the NFL level. To others, such as the league itself, this may be considered a dangerous play that needs to be eliminated from the game.
One positive from this is that it could discourage Skattebo from leading with his head, which obviously increases injury risk for himself and others. Skattebo only appeared in eight games as a rookie following a season-ending ankle injury.
The Giants desperately need him healthy all season with Dart out and Jameis Winston under center. Otherwise, the Giants may be set for a massive disappointment following so much preseason hype in John Harbaugh's first year in town.
