Ravens reportedly have this Lamar Jackson 'hope' about ankle injury after win over Titans

While fans of the Baltimore Ravens may have feared the worst when they saw starting quarterback Lamar Jackson suffer an ankle injury late in the first half of Sunday's 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans that improved Baltimore to 3-1, first-year Ravens head coach Jesse Minter later suggested the club avoided a catastrophe regarding the Jackson setback.

During Monday's edition of NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" program, league insider Ian Rapoport shared an optimistic update regarding Jackson's status beyond Week 4 of the season.

Ravens "hope" Lamar Jackson injury isn't a long-term thing

According to Rapoport, Jackson left the stadium on Sunday wearing a walking boot because the two-time regular-season Most Valuable Player didn't want to further aggravate the ankle issue. Jackson is scheduled to have an MRI on Monday, and Rapoport said that the Ravens' "hope" is that their QB1 is day-to-day.

Against the Titans, backup Tyler Huntley filled in for Jackson and went 8-of-9 passing for 63 yards and zero touchdowns. Presumably, Huntley would start for the Ravens when they play the Atlanta Falcons on the evening of Oct. 11 if Jackson can't go. 1-2 Atlanta plays at the 1-2 New Orleans Saints on Monday night.

Do Ravens believe Lamar Jackson could play in Week 5?

As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Ravens as 3.5-point road favorites against the Falcons. Such a line could indicate that certain insiders feel Jackson could ultimately be cleared to play in the Week 5 "Sunday Night Football" matchup.

"Jackson has a chance to work his way back and get on the field next week," Rapoport added during his Monday morning update. "But time will tell as [the Ravens] go through the week."

Jackson missed three games last season with a right hamstring injury and a fourth contest due to what was referred to at the time as a "pretty significant" back bruise. While concerns related to Jackson's health have sparked debates among members of the NFL community throughout his Baltimore tenure, it seemed as of the morning of Oct. 5 that the Ravens believe he may not miss more than one start at the absolute most due to his latest issue.
