DraftKings Sportsbook shows that the New York Giants entered their Week 4 home game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday as 2.5-point underdogs for that contest. The Giants then earned a 36-24 win that improved them to 3-1 and dropped Arizona to 1-3.
Following that victory, second-year Giants running back Cam Skattebo made it known he was aware of the game line when he entered MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
"It's dumb. It's dumb to be underdogs at home, especially when you're a good football team," Skattebo said, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN. "When people want to bet against you at your own place, and you have a team coming from a six-hour flight on a time change, it's a pretty brutal feeling as a team when you feel you're put underneath them. We came out here and handled business."
The line was at least slightly understandable, as backup Giants quarterback Jameis Winston left much to be desired with his play over a pair of outings after starter Jaxson Dart suffered a serious knee injury on Sept. 21. Against the Cardinals, Winston completed 18-of-29 pass attempts for 250 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
Meanwhile, the Giants will be without star pass-rusher Brian Burns for the rest of the campaign due to the ACL tear he suffered on Sept. 27. Nevertheless, Skattebo and his teammates felt disrespected while preparing to face the Cardinals.
"We talked about it as a team. I think we were underdogs with them coming into our house," Skattebo continued. "I think that was kind of BS. This is our home. This is our house. These guys love each other. They know we have to protect our castle. They got it done. We got it done -- 3-0 at home is pretty good."
The Giants next play at the 1-3 Washington Commanders on Oct. 11. As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had Big Blue as a three-point underdog for that game. If nothing else, Skattebo and Co. may have some fresh bulletin-board material for the Giants' Week 5 matchup.
"We're 3-1. There are still 13 games left," Skattebo added during his comments. "I don't really look at it as we're in first place. We still have games to play, a lot of games to play. We played two non-division games the past two weeks. We still have [almost] all our division left, and we have to continue to win."
