Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss has a trait NFL scouts can't ignore

There's still quite a ways to go until the 2027 NFL Draft, but it's certainly not too early to look at the current quarterback class and assess the standouts.

One of them is Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who has recorded 1,222 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns and just three interceptions through four games in the 2026-27 season.

Chambliss, of course, is one of the names to watch in the 2027 NFL Draft. Before college football's Week 6 games, ESPN unleashed its updated 2027 NFL QB draft rankings, and they have him as the third-best quarterback in his class.

Trinidad Chambliss has ability that has scouts talking

There's one thing Chambliss is doing that NFL executives and scouts just can't ignore: his ability to make accurate throws on the move. According to ESPN, he pairs that talent with a quick release, strong arm and the ability to attack the middle of the field.

"Accuracy on the move" means Chambliss can throw accurately while running, scrambling or moving outside the pocket, so he's versatile.

"I've seen him play live multiple times now, and you just hold your breath every single time because he throws strike after strike," an NFC assistant GM said, according to the ESPN report. "He's smaller and won't be for everyone that has a need there, but he's one that makes you think really hard about making an exception to your normal rules in the draft room."

Jordan Reid of ESPN also calls Chambliss a "find-and-fire type" who's really good at operating in the pocket.

"He shows conviction with his decision-making and plays with the confidence that he can fit the football through a coin-slot-sized throwing window," Reid says.

If Chambliss can build on that ability, there's no reason why he won't sneak up even higher in the 2027 NFL quarterback draft rankings as the season comes to a close.
