Just two days after setting a new playoff career-high and getting the Atlanta Dream a game away from reaching the WNBA Finals, Angel Reese gets the job done on Friday night.
Finishing one point shy of matching her personal best total from Wednesday, Reese continued her impressive postseason by helping her team close out their semifinals series with an 85-83 win and a 3-0 sweep over the New York Liberty. Reese scored 22 points, now her second-highest mark in the playoffs, by going 7-for-18 from the field and 2-for-4 from three.
She was also one rebound short of a double-double, which would've been her second of the playoffs, and dished out three assists while recording two blocks and one steal.
The victory was historic for the Dream franchise as well, marking the team's first trip to the WNBA Finals since 2013. But the pressure is now on the 24-year-old to do what she's accomplished at every level throughout her whole basketball career from college to the professional ranks.
Reese's production against New York came after leading her team to a 2-0 series sweep of the Washington Mystics in the first round. She scored 28 total points in those two games combined and posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the first game.

Reese's memorable playoff run followed a regular season that saw her named the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year. She averaged 16.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.8 helpers per game in 2026 and set multiple records along the way, pulling down the most total boards in a single season (521) and even the most offensive rebounds (206).
Reese even said she "manifested this" when discussing the playoff run so far during a postgame interview.
"I manifested this"

At only 24, Reese, who was the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, is already building a basketball resume that's worthy of the Hall of Fame. In addition to her WNBA success, she led her team to a championship in the Unrivaled league and was named the league's 2025 Defensive Player of the Year. And before turning pro, she led LSU to the 2023 national championship and was crowned the women's tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
The next major box for Reese to check off is now right in front of her: capture a WNBA championship, and by doing so deliver the first title for the Dream as a franchise.
