Alex Bowman and Bubba Wallace were involved in an incredibly hard crash on Lap 77 during Sunday's Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
As Bowman and Wallace battled for fourth in the closing laps of Stage 1, Bowman got loose in Turn 2. His No. 48 Chevrolet snapped quickly, shooting up the racetrack and into Wallace, creating vicious hits for both drivers.
Wallace slid down the track after hitting the outside wall and took another hard hit into the inside wall on the backstretch.
William Byron was also involved in the crash and received damage. He drove his No. 24 Chevrolet back to the garage area and climbed out, indicating either the end of his race or a long repair job for the No. 24 team.
HUGE impact for both Alex Bowman and Bubba Wallace here. William Byron involved in the accident, as well. Wallace did climb from his car and walk to the ambulance and will go to the infield care center. #NASCAR https://t.co/myYfF3XXsk

Two of Hendrick Motorsports' four drivers are now out of Sunday's race.
Wallace took the lead on the second restart of the race and led 11 laps before points leader and polesitter Kyle Larson took the top spot back. The handling on Wallace's No. 23 Toyota continued to fade, and he lost two more spots as a result.
Both Wallace and Bowman climbed out of their cars under their own power and walked to the ambulance, though Wallace was slow to get out initially. The crash took Wallace outside of the top 10 in the Cup Series standings.
"Yeah, just got loose," Bowman told USA Network. "As soon as it got to the exit of the corner it snapped. Kinda didn't stand a chance. Hate that for our Ally 48 team. Obviously, we had a fast car... hate that for the 23 and 24 cars. To ruin their days too really sucks. It's on me. I just didn't hang onto it well enough."
Coverage of Sunday's race can be found on USA Network, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Wallace and Bowman's crash ended the first stage, with Larson taking the stage win.
