Dealing with doubters throughout his career, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy continues to prove himself as a worthy franchise leader.
Sunday evening marked the latest example of Purdy doing enough to secure another win for his team.
On pace for the best season of his career to date, Purdy completed 19-of-29 passes for only 189 yards through the air, although he did scramble for six more.
However, Purdy tossed two touchdown passes, giving him multiple in every game this season, and posted a performance that equated to a 92.5 quarterback rating as the 49ers beat rival Seattle Seahawks 32-29 in a pivotal NFC West showdown.
And Purdy's efficient play has been a big reason why San Francisco is still undefeated at 5-0 through Week 6. Overall, he has 1,196 passing yards, 13 touchdown passes, and, most importantly, only two interceptions while carrying a staggering 69% completion rate.

Purdy's strong play early in the 2026 season serves as both a message to his critics and a revenge tour after multiple injuries cost him most of 2025. He was only able to play in nine games last season, although he recorded 2,167 yards through the air with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

But lending credence to the critics and doubters, Mac Jones led the 49ers to a 5-3 record in Purdy's absence. However, all Purdy has done is win when under center as well.
Despite having led the 49ers all the way to the Super Bowl following the 2023 season, Purdy has only been named a Pro Bowler once in his five seasons.
Statistically, Purdy has 12,881 passing yards, 97 touchdowns and 39 interceptions in 54 games played at age 26. His single-season highs are 4,280 passing yards and 31 touchdown passes, both coming in 2023.
All in all, Purdy has also already far exceeded any reasonable expectations for a seventh-round pick, which is where he was selected by the 49ers in 2022 out of Iowa State.
