Bills elevate WR from practice squad as DJ Moore's status remains unchanged for Rams game

One of the biggest questions going into "Monday Night Football" with the Buffalo Bills vs. the Los Angeles Rams is if wide receiver DJ Moore will be available to play. Hours before kickoff, that question still hasn't been answered, but the Bills are making moves in case he can't take the field.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bills have elevated wide receiver Trent Sherfield from their practice squad. Moore is still listed as questionable for the game against the Rams.

So, does this elevation mean that Moore is out? Not at all. But it shows that the Bills will have another wideout option whether or not Moore is available. The final list will show whether Moore is taking the field closer to kickoff.

Moore was back at limited practice Saturday after not being there Thursday and Friday. He hurt his left shoulder during Buffalo's Week 4 game against the New England Patriots and had already injured that same shoulder earlier in the season.

As much as the Bills and their fans would love nothing more than to have Moore back on the field, making sure he is fully recovered has to come first. The last thing Buffalo needs is for him to rush back before his body is ready and risk turning a short-term absence into a much bigger issue.

A player can be eager to return, especially when his team needs him and is up against a team as good as the Rams, but protecting his long-term health has to be the priority. Getting Moore back at full strength will help the Bills much more than having him return too soon and risk another injury.
