Less than a week ago, the Cleveland Guardians were down 2-0 in the ALDS and on the brink of a disappointing postseason exit.
Since the Game 2 loss, though, something has clicked with the Cleveland offense, and it has begun steamrolling teams in postseason games. An offensive outburst propelled the Guardians to three straight wins in the ALDS to avoid elimination and win the series.
That offensive production continued into Monday as Cleveland knocked off the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 in Game 1 of the ALCS.
The Cleveland offense exploded on Monday night, scoring runs on 14 hits along with taking one walk. The offensive charge was led by Jose Ramirez and Chase DeLauter, as that duo combined to go 6-for-9 with two RBI.
Nathaniel Lowe and Jo Adell also had outstanding nights from a run-production standpoint, as they combined to drive in four of the seven Guardians runs.
The offensive showing from Cleveland was a bit surprising, as the regular-season series between the two teams saw the Guardians offense score just six total runs in six games.

Stealing Game 1 was massive for the Guardians, as they now have the pitching advantage in Games 2 and 3. Left-hander Parker Messick (12-9, 2.56 ERA) will go for Cleveland in Game 2 on Tuesday and right-hander Gavin Williams (14-8, 3.76 ERA, 254 K) will likely be going in Game 3 on Thursday.
With an offense averaging 6.75 runs per game over its last four and with the advantage on the mound, Cleveland has a real chance to head back home with a surprising 2-0 lead and one of the most dominant postseason pitchers this season on the mound.
