A member of the Cleveland Guardians has a chance to make franchise history on Tuesday.
Jose Ramirez matched Cleveland history by driving in a run as part of the Guardians' win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
Going 3-for-5 in the game, Ramirez's ninth inning RBI placed him in a three-way tie with Cleveland icons Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Thome and Sandy Alomar for the longest streak of consecutive playoff games with at least one RBI. And doing do again in Game 2 would award him sole possession of the record.
Ramirez has now sent at least one runner home in four straight postseason games, dating back to Cleveland's American League Division Series win over the rival Chicago White Sox.
Ramirez, who hit 12 home runs with 53 RBI during the regular season — his 14th in Cleveland — recorded seven RBI in the five-game series against the White Sox. He also hit a pair of home runs in back-to-back games.

Overall in 23 at-bats across six playoff games, Ramirez has two home runs, eight RBI, eight hits, eight runs scored and carries a .348 batting average with a .444 OBP and a staggering .739 slug.
But Ramirez stepping up in the playoffs is nothing new for Cleveland fans. He hit .429, granted in just two games, in 2020, and .333 in seven playoff games in 2022. Ramirez has experienced playing in 51 postseason games throughout eight of his 14 MLB years.
And at 34 and a seven-time All-Star, Ramirez is now hoping to stay hot and hand the Guardians a 2-0 series lead and move a bit closer to his second trip to the World Series. Ramirez was, of course, on the 2016 Cleveland team that fell in a tough seven-game Fall Classic to the Chicago Cubs.
