Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson punched Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Bradley Chubb after Buffalo defeated Los Angeles on Monday night.

The NFL reviewed the incident and has decided to suspend Jackson two games without pay, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports.

The incident occurred after Chubb and Jackson exchanged words. Jackson followed Chubb and punched him in the head with his right hand. Chubb did not retaliate, as Bills teammates held him back.

With ESPN cameras catching the strike, Jackson was all but certain to be suspended. And the NFL has acted quickly, moving Matthew Stafford’s blindside protector out of action for two games.

Jackson — who has run into a previous suspension and was arrested this offseason — will miss Los Angeles' matchups against the Cardinals and Raiders.

While the Rams did well to find a left tackle from the UDFA ranks, Jackson has previously been suspended for two games (in 2024) for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. This offseason, the Iowa product was arrested on a felony domestic battery charge in June. However, no charge ultimately ended up coming Jackson’s way in connection with that arrest.

Jackson entered a pretrial diversion program this summer, but while he looks to have avoided criminal charges in that matter, an NFL suspension is still in play. The 28-year-old blocker running into a separate suspension for the Chubb incident will obviously not help his case in the grand scheme.

The Rams have used Jackson as their LT starter since the 2023 season, and he parlayed his move to that high-profile spot into a lucrative second contract. The Canadian blocker is tied to a three-year, $57.75M contract agreed to just before free agency in 2025. L.A. kept Jackson off the market with a contract including $30M fully guaranteed. No guarantees are in place for Jackson beyond 2026, removing that component in this latest rumored suspension.

Swingman David Quessenberry resides as the only other tackle on the Rams’ 53-man roster. The Rams re-signed the veteran to a one-year deal worth $1.49M early this offseason. At 36, Quessenberry is near the end of his career; he last started a game in 2023 (for the Vikings). A 17-game Titans starter in 2021 (as the team’s Isaiah Wilson plan busted quickly), Quessenberry played in 13 games as a Rams backup last season. Veteran Blake Hance and rookie UDFA Austin Blaske are on L.A.’s practice squad.
