Bears' Caleb Williams addresses online trolling of his emotional reaction to getting injured

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was injured in Week 2 of the NFL season, and at the time, based off his reaction, the injury appeared to be a serious one.

Rather than the social media world being concerned about Williams and the extent of his injury, he was later trolled when the injury turned out to be a hamstring strain.

Williams spoke to the media about the online trolling for the first time Thursday and gave clarification as to why he was so emotional leaving the field.

Caleb Williams hated not being able to be on the field with his teammates

When speaking to the media about the injury, Williams revealed that his emotion while being carted off the field came more from not being able to be on the field, rather than thinking he had some sort of season-ending injury.

"Yeah, I’m always going to show emotion, especially when I can’t be out there with the guys," Williams said. "I care about the team, the organization, winning, being out there, my teammates, all of that. I care, and that’s the biggest thing. This is what I love to do. This puts a smile on my face. It’s everything to me. So, not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the tears, or whatever that was.”

Williams also declined to give updates on his official injury diagnosis, as he told reporters that they simply did not deserve it based on the several inaccurate reports of his injuries.

Will Caleb Williams be the starter in Week 6?

For the first time since his injury, Williams has been a full participant in practice this week, meaning he is getting closer to returning to the field as Chicago's starting quarterback.

Williams was asked if he would be the starter on Sunday, and he said he wasn't sure yet, due to still having to go through several medical procedures.

Whenever he is able to make it back on the field, Williams seems to be as motivated as he ever has been. A motivated Williams with a chip on his shoulder will be a frightening thing for opposing defenses to try to stop for the remainder of the season.
