Everyone made the same Sam Darnold joke after his disastrous close to 'TNF'

Sam Darnold may not have completely overcome his fear of the paranormal just yet.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback had a nightmarish end to “Thursday Night Football” at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo. Darnold squandered his chance to play hero with his team trailing 14-11 in the closing minutes of regulation.

Facing 3rd-and-1 at the Broncos’ 39, Darnold threw an ill-advised pass to wide receiver Troy Horton that got picked off by Denver cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine.

Darnold did not need to force the pass with Seattle likely in a four-down territory. He could have opted to throw it out of bounds or even scramble for a shot at getting the first down with his legs.

Fans joked that Darnold was once again “seeing ghosts” that spooked him into throwing the risky pass.

The Seahawks forced a quick three-and-out and got a huge return from Rasheed Shaheed to set up a game-tying field goal to force overtime. But the ghosts continued to scare Darnold in the extra period, where he threw another interception that had the jokes flying again.

Darnold may have a Super Bowl ring now, but the Seahawks QB’s 2019 admission about “seeing ghosts” during a game against the New England Patriots continues to haunt him.

Darnold went 27/51 for 278 yards, with his 2 interceptions dooming his Seahawks in an ugly 17-14 loss.
