The Florida Panthers addition of Brady Tkachuk was one of the biggest moves of the NHL offseason. It not only united him with his brother and Team USA teammate, Matthew Tkachuk, it also gave the Panthers another top-line scorer and physical presence to round their lineup.
After a slow start to his Panthers career, Tkachuk seems to be getting comfortable.
So much so that he has now recorded hat tricks in back-to-back Panthers games.
That includes Thursday's 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks where single-handedly led a third period comeback over the final 10 minutes of regulation.
Tkachuk's debut season with the Panthers got off to a slow start with zero points in his first five games, but after getting an opportunity to move up to a line with his brother things have taken off for him (and the team).
Things started to get rolling for him earlier this week when he recorded his first Panthers point (an assist) in a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
He built on that in the next game with a four-point game (including a hat trick) in a 7-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Then he followed that with Thursday's performance that was capped off with the game-winning goal in overtime.
OF COURSE IT'S BRADY TKACHUK

What makes Thursday's performance so significant is that Florida was trailing 2-0 with 10 minutes to play in regulation. Tkachuk finally got them on the board, and then tied the game in the closing seconds to set the stage for his winner.
Tkachuk is in a perfect spot with Florida, not only because he is a perfect fit for the Panthers' aggressive and physical style of play, but also because he does not need to be the cornerstone player and focal point of the roster. When he played for the Ottawa Senators he was the captain, the key building block, and one of the players everything was supposed to be built around. He's good. Really good. But he should not be the best player on a contending team. He is probably best-suited to be the second or third option on such a team, which is exactly what he will get to do in Florida where his brother and Aleksander Barkov (when he eventually returns from injury) are the focal points and the foundation of the roster.
