Cardinals suffer backfield blow as Jeremiyah Love is ruled out

The Arizona Cardinals will be without one of their key offensive weapons in Week 6 as they prepare for their upcoming matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Jeremiyah Love will be unavailable on Sunday

According to Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur, rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has been ruled OUT on Sunday against the Rams. Love is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 4 that has been nagging him ever since.

According to LaFleur, Love's injury has possibly gotten worse throughout the week. At this time, though, Love is not expected to be headed toward a stint on injured reserve.

Jeremiyah Love hasn't been very productive this season

Through five games, Love hasn't quite been as productive as some would've expected. He's averaging just 3.7 yards per carry with one touchdown on the ground and has just 11 catches for 36 yards with a touchdown in the receiving game.

It has not been the burst onto the scene type of production that many had expected and hoped to see when Love was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Tyler Allgeier will be the lead back on Sunday

With the absence of Love, it will backup Tyler Allgeier who becomes the bell cow and workhorse in the ground game. So far this season, Allgeier has 35 carries for 119 yards with one touchdown.

He's also collected 12 catches for 44 yards, both of which are the most of any running back on the roster. Allgeier will be a fine option to replace Love until his ankle is able to heal up enough for him to return to the field.
