Jauan Jennings posts cryptic social media message amid trade rumors

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings posted an enigmatic message on social media Friday amid growing speculation that he could be traded before the NFL’s Nov. 10 deadline.

Jennings shared a photo of himself smiling in a Vikings uniform with the caption “Forever thankful."

He followed with a separate note: “God told me I wouldn’t be the first nor the last to go through it,” Jennings added in a separate text block below. “He just made sure we were built for it."

It remains unclear whether the 29-year-old was addressing trade talk, his limited production or a personal matter.

He missed the season opener after a death in his immediate family.

Since returning, Jennings has not established consistent timing with either Carson Wentz or Kyler Murray. He has two catches for nine yards on five targets across four games, including two starts.

Those totals represent a steep drop from his 2025 campaign with the San Francisco 49ers, when he posted 55 receptions for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns in 15 games.

In 2024, Jennings recorded 77 catches, 975 yards and six scores over the same number of contests.

Minnesota signed him to a one-year contract carrying roughly $8 million in base salary, with incentives that could push the value near $13 million. Several other clubs, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders, showed interest during free agency.

The Vikings enter the week at 5-0 and are widely viewed as buyers on offense. Jennings’ modest role, however, has fueled reports that he could be moved for draft capital.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has said the receiver’s trade market is expected to heat up in the weeks leading to the deadline.

The undefeated Chiefs (4-0) have dealt with injuries to wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. A potential return of Tyreek Hill remains uncertain amid his recovery and a recent civil judgment of $500,000 against him on two counts of battery.

The Raiders (3-2) have struggled to find a primary outside threat. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has frequently looked to tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer along with running back Ashton Jeanty.

Tre Tucker has been the most productive Raiders wide receiver, with 19 catches for 274 yards and one touchdown.

Jennings profiles as a physical possession option who can move the chains, finish drives near the goal line and contribute as a blocker on the perimeter.

The Commanders (1-3-1) also inquired about him previously, though their record makes a buyer’s approach less likely before the deadline.

Any deal would probably involve a late-round selection given Jennings’ short-term contract and early-season output.
