Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has received a significant update regarding his status with the NFL.
Jacobs has been on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list since Aug. 30, while the league initiated an investigation under the Personal Conduct Policy following Jacobs ' arrest in May.
According to ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter, Jacobs is being removed from the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list on Monday. The league will continue to investigate Jacobs' arrest, but his removal on Monday will make him eligible to play in Week 7.
While the investigation continues, the NFL still reserves the right to add further discipline if and when warranted. That will certainly be something to monitor throughout the remainder of the investigation.

Just Wednesday, Jacobs filed a civil suit looking for a permanent injunction to block access to evidence in his case stemming from his May arrest. The information Jacobs wants blocked is what the NFL is trying to obtain in its investigation.
That was just another layer of his offseason trouble, and the NFL will certainly take it into consideration as it continues its investigation of Jacobs.

Without their star running back this season, Green Bay ranks dead last in the NFL with just 60.4 rushing yards per game. The lead back through five weeks has been MarShawn Lloyd at just 22.4 yards per game.
The NFL will ultimately decide what punishment is enough for Jacobs and when he can officially return to the field. Whenever he does, it will be a much-needed boost to the Packers' rushing attack that has struggled mightily without the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
