The Philadelphia Eagles have been dealt a significant blow with Jalen Hurts heading to injured reserve, raising questions about the quarterback's health and how much time he could miss.
It was reported earlier in the week that Hurts had already been ruled out in Week 6 due to a concerning health issue with a superficial blood clot.
It was known that Hurts was going to miss some time but even as recently as Saturday morning, all reports indicated that Hurts was not going to be placed on IR.
That has evidently changed and has raised the concern level surrounding Hurts' health for the foreseeable future.
Breaking: After consultations with numerous doctors and experts that went into Saturday, the Eagles are placing quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, sources tell @rapsheet and me. The move will sideline Hurts indefinitely.

In the case of a blood clot issue for Hurts, getting back on the field has become secondary to his personal health.
There is no telling as to when he can get the blood clot issues resolved, and it should be an absolute necessity to have that fully under control and be back to 100% before even contemplating a return to the field.
There is still football to be played in Philadelphia, meaning that someone will have to step up and play quarterback. That someone is Tanner McKee, as he will be the Eagles quarterback until further notice.
McKee's first action will come Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Without his top three running backs, McKee will have an incredible amount of pressure on him to perform well and get Philadelphia off its three-game losing streak.
