Luka Doncic has a big chance to make Draymond Green eat his words on MVP race

Winning Most Valuable Player in the NBA is obviously an extremely difficult proposition. The strongest evidence to back that up is the fact that Luka Doncic has not won the award yet despite already finishing eight seasons in the league with six All-NBA First Team selections and a Finals appearance.

Recently, Draymond Green said that Luka will never win the MVP award thanks in large part to people getting used to his monstrous scoring outputs. Basically, he was pointing out the fact that there is now fatigue with the numbers Doncic has been putting up on the regular.

Well, as long as the Los Angeles Lakers can sustain their good start to the season and finish with an impressive win-loss card, Doncic can definitely make Green eat his words.

Part and parcel of why Doncic has never won MVP is the fact that his teams never really finished the regular season at the top of the conference. His Mavericks squads peaked at No. 4 in the West while the Lakers turned in back-to-back third place finishes over the last couple of years.

This season, the Spurs and the Thunder are widely reckoned to finish as the top two teams in the West. The Lakers are projected to end up being a tier below those squads, but that might not be as firm as people make it out to be.

Not a lot of people are high on what the Lakers can accomplish this season with their revamped personnel, but there is admittedly less pressure on them this time around. That can bode pretty well for Doncic and his crew, as they are viewed as an underdog of some sorts against elite competition.

If LA can, say, finish with a great win-loss card in the West and Luka is relatively healthy all throughout the season, this might just be the season for him to finally win MVP and make Draymond eat his words.
