CeeDee Lamb believes the Cowboys have the best roster in the NFC East

CeeDee Lamb offered a blunt assessment Friday: The Dallas Cowboys remain relevant largely because their rivals have underperformed, though he remains convinced Dallas has enough talent to capitalize on the opportunity.

NFC East's mediocrity has given Dallas Cowboys new life

The Cowboys and Eagles have spent much of the season underachieving, but the NFC East has given them a lifeline. If the Giants fall to Houston, Monday night's winner will be staring at an opportunity to be just a game out of first place.

According to FanDuel, the Texans are 10.5-point favorites against the Giants, who will be quarterbacked by J.J. McCarthy.

Lamb's message was simple: The Cowboys still believe they're the team to beat. Despite an inconsistent season (2-4), he argued Dallas possesses the league's most complete roster and that the challenge is turning that potential into results every Sunday and Monday.

“We think about it just like that,” Lamb said, via the team’s website and Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper. “Anybody can win his division, so why not us? Every opportunity that we can get, we know what we’re messing up, and what are our areas of improvement — like playing complementary ball. I feel like, at the end of the day, we feel like we have the best roster, top down, and we’ve got to be able to play like that on Sundays or Mondays.”

For Dallas Cowboys, self-awareness means nothing without results

The NFC East is there for the taking, but Dallas has reached the point where confidence alone won't move the standings. The Cowboys don't need another reminder that they have the talent. They need proof they can finally turn that talent into wins.

Lamb's comments are exactly what you want to hear from a star player in late October. No one in the Cowboys locker room should be waving the white flag in a division that's still up for grabs. But the most revealing part of his quote isn't the confidence. It's the admission.

"We know what we're messing up." That's the reality facing the Cowboys.

"Dallas must find balance, both within its offense and between all phases of the game. Prescott has had his struggles the past two games, throwing for two touchdowns and four interceptions. He also hasn't tossed multiple TDs since Week 2," via NFL Network's Bobby Kownack. "However, he's receiving only marginal support from a rushing offense that's averaging 3.7 yards per carry on 122 attempts, the fewest carries in the league."

Dallas will be at Lincoln Financial Field this Monday and won't face a division opponent again until Week 12, Nov. 26, when they host the Eagles on Thanksgiving afternoon at AT&T Stadium.
