LaNorris Sellers leads South Carolina to dramatic comeback win over No. 11 Tennessee

When the South Carolina Gamecocks jumped out to an early 14-0 lead Saturday against the Tennessee Volunteers, there weren't many fans who felt safe about the double-digit lead.

South Carolina fans have already witnessed their team blow first-half leads of 16-0 and 17-0 this season. That same scenario played out Saturday when the Gamecocks entered halftime trailing 21-17, and it seemed like it would be yet another double-digit blown lead in a conference game at home under head coach Shane Beamer.

LaNorris Sellers wasn't letting the Gamecocks go away quietly

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers didn't have the best day through the air (18-of-32, 210 yards, one TD, one INT), but he stepped up and put his team on his back in the fourth quarter.

Sellers orchestrated one of the best South Carolina drives of the day that was capped off by one of the most impressive runs that any college quarterback will put on film this season. The 10-yard touchdown run tied things up with under two minutes in the game.

Sellers ultimately finished the day with 18 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns, one of his best performances on the ground this season.

The heroics continued after the game was tied

Even with the Gamecocks tying the game with under two minutes left, the defense still had to go out and do its job. It did just that, with star defensive end Dylan Stewart forcing a sack that gave the ball right back to South Carolina in field goal range with just 33 seconds remaining on the clock.

Thirty-three seconds later, when the clock read all zeroes, it was a 48-yard field goal from Malik Orsan splitting the uprights to give the Gamecocks a stunning 27-24 comeback win over the Volunteers.

It was the second consecutive game that South Carolina knocked off a ranked opponent, as its previous win two weeks ago came against Florida when it was still inside the Top 25.

South Carolina will be a dangerous team down the stretch

After a grueling three-game losing streak earlier in the season, the Gamecocks have now rattled off back-to-back ranked wins and have an extremely manageable schedule to work with.

South Carolina has just one remaining game against a ranked opponent (Nov. 21 vs. Georgia), and it will likely be favored in all of its remaining games.

With the way the SEC has unfolded this season, the Gamecocks have an outside chance of making what would be an improbable run to their first SEC Championship Game since the 2010 season.
