Lakers' Luka Doncic makes history with monster performance vs. Jazz

No stranger to putting together monster performances and making history, Luka Doncic did it again on Sunday.

The Lakers' superstar guard scored 52 points in leading Los Angeles4rrr to a 132-123 road win over the Jazz in Utah.

Luka Doncic did it all while making history for the Lakers

In addition to his 52 points, which came while connecting on 17-of-30 shots from the field and 8-of-18 from three, Doncic also dished out 10 assists and brought down eight rebounds as he was just two boards shy of a triple-double.

Doncic's big game even made Lakers' history. He became the first Laker to ever register 50-plus points, at least 10 assists, five or more rebounds and hit five three-pointers in the same game.

So in his second full season and third overall year with the Lakers, Doncic can already say he accomplished something no other player to ever wear the purple and gold was able to achieve.

Doncic could argue for his first NBA MVP if he can have a big season and lead the Lakers to the playoffs

And in doing it this season, Los Angeles' first in the post-LeBron James era for the franchise, Doncic will be able to use it as a reason to show his value as he pursues his first-career MVP award.

Through Los Angeles' first three games of the 2026-27 season, Doncic, 27, is averaging 34.3 points, 8.0 assists and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 46.4% from the field and 39.5 from long range, a mark that would be the highest for a season of his career if it holds.

In the midst of his 10th NBA season, Doncic, a six-time All-Star and six-time first-team All-NBA, carries career averages of 29.3 points, 8.2 assists and 8.5 rebounds per contest. He was named the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year and already owns two league scoring titles.
