The Oregon Ducks aren't having a great season, and things got worse with a 21-10 loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini on the road in Week 8.
Quarterback Dante Moore is still sidelined due to a concussion. Dylan Raiola got the start and struggled again, throwing for 246 yards with no scores.
On Sunday morning, Oregon decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Mehringer was the co-OC and tight ends coach at Oregon from 2022 through 2025. He was promoted to OC in January after Will Stein left to become the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Prior to coming to Eugene, Mehringer was a co-OC at James Madison, Florida Atlantic and New Mexico, with other offensive assistant roles in between. Mehringer was the OC at Rutgers in 2016.
Oregon's offense has not lived up to the hype, and the Ducks are 70th in points per game and yards per game. The Ducks are 163rd in rushing yards per game and 208th in third-down efficiency.
Oregon has failed to score 20 or more points in any of the past three weeks. The good news is that Moore is trending in the right direction, and he could return soon. For now, Oregon is moving on from Mehringer, and the Ducks face the Northwestern Wildcats at Autzen Stadium on Halloween.
