Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream lost Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday. She had a disappointing performance in the 67-62 defeat and the visiting team also gave up homecourt advantage. The three-time All-Star forward also had a heated moment with Golden State Valkyries guard Kaila Charles in the third quarter.
Reese finished with eight points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks. It’s the first time in the championship series that she failed to score in double digits and record at least 12 rebounds. Golden State will host Game 5 at Chase Center, as well as Game 7, if necessary.
The incident happened with 7:39 remaining in the period. Charles fouled Reese before both teams huddled. Cameras caught the two exchanging words and pushing each other. The referees did not issue technical fouls as they did not see the exchange.

Rhyne Howard led Atlanta with a game-high 19 points along with eight rebounds. Jordin Canada contributed 10 points and four assists, while Isobel Borlase added 10 points and two rebounds. No other Dream player scored in double digits. Meanwhile, Gabby Williams spearheaded Golden State’s attack. She recorded 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton scored 13 points each, and Cecilia Zandalasini chipped in 10.
Game 5 will be played on Monday at Chase Center, with the venue expected to be sold out. Reese admitted during her Game 4 postgame presser that she rushed her shots, unlike how she did in the previous three games. She also vowed to be better and is already looking forward to the next meeting.
The Dream reached the finals for the first time since 2013. They are aiming to win their first championship in franchise history.
