Losing any game in the NFL is always hard, but it's even more difficult when it's a game that feels like it should have been won. Upsets happen, but when it's a struggling team that was supposed to win and they don't, that's even more hurtful.
That was the case with the New York Jets. They had a favorable matchup against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, one they were favored to win, and weren't able to pull it off. The Dolphins pulled off a close win, 28-25, and it was a game that the Jets could have won.
In a piece published on the NFL's official website after the game, Jeremy Bergman points out that head coach Aaron Glenn's latest loss is tough to defend. The piece follows an intense round of Week 7 games. He even notes that the loss is "unforgivable."
"Glenn took all three of his timeouts into the half and let Miami salt away the clock before the Dolphins scored their third TD with just six seconds left in the second frame," Bergman writes.
Elsewhere, he adds, "The Jets boast a roster worthy of wild-card contention, but to sniff the postseason, they need to win games against the runts of the NFL. This was one of those games, as is next week's home bout against the Raiders. A loss to Las Vegas, and owner Woody Johnson might consider annulling his marriage to Glenn."
So, he even wonders if Glenn will still be with the team if the losses keep piling up this season. It's a difficult loss for the Jets, but especially for Glenn. He has to get this figured out.
